The reason for the diverse schools of thought lay in the company’s instructions and the manner in which the builders use the item and their encounters with it.

How Does It Work?

Coating a floor requires four steps, preparation of the surface to be floored, priming, coating and sealing. If properly applied, it is completely sterile and non slippery surface even when it is wet.

It places well on many types of surfaces like concrete, metal, tile and wood and is resistant to most harsh chemicals making for a durable and long-lasting surface and some color may even be added to the sandpaper to get a little bit of flare. Although widely used commercially, it also appeals to homeowners for its easy maintenance and durability, it is not uncommon for somebody to get it put in their own garage, basement or laundry room.

There are a couple forms, self-dispersing, which is used for areas with forklifts and other heavy machinery that’s operated typically in a warehouse setting. Self-dispersing with quartz sand is used can be used in food processing plants since it creates a non skid surface. Places such as diners and storage centers use self leveling kind because of its ease of maintenance. Mortar floors is used in heavy duty businesses. The list goes on and on, you’ve got cosmetic epoxy, practical epoxy and there’s even anti-static epoxy that is used in labs and hospitals!

Costs

Epoxy flooring is not inexpensive and the price of a flooring is contingent upon the size of this surface to be coated, naturally. Of course the expense of this type of flooring is warranted by its durability since once it’s been laid it is going to last a lifetime. Epoxy flooring is usually done by a contractor if it’s a commercial job, however there are many distinct kits out there that homeowners can buy to epoxy their garages and basements. A few of the kits have flakes to add to or scatter over the epoxy once it’s been applied. They come in all different colors so fitting is not a issue and you are going to find exactly the same long lasting durability which commercial industries get.
