Little Grub Club Tackles Childhood Obesity
Providing a Fun Family Approach to Food Education

Toronto, August 9th 2016: Back to school is around the corner and it’s a great opportunity for families to start fresh.  According to the Canadian Government (2016), obesity rates among children and youth in Canada have nearly tripled in the last 30 years. Communities must do what they can to spread awareness around the importance of eating right and empower kids to make good choices.

Little Grub Club is a non-profit that partners with GTA restaurants to help families on-the-go meet their nutritional needs. Families are able to grab a free rewards card, collect stamps at participating restaurants for choosing healthy, and redeem for great prizes. Kids can grab an educational booklet, play games and test their nutrition knowledge.

Current partners include b. good, Magic Oven, Impact Kitchen and Pulp Kitchen. Filled stamp cards can be redeemed for prizes like tickets to Skyzone Trampoline Park or a ride on Pirate Life Adventure.

“Ryerson University, Juleigh Giberson, and Little Grub Club are bringing awareness and fun to educating kids and families on eating healthy even with a busy lifestyle in the GTA”, says Meg Folkinga, Marketing Manager, b. good, “and we are proud to be a part of this Toronto initiative!”

Pulp Kitchen’s owner Marie Crawford is another advocate for family health backing the program. She says “Pulp Kitchen is excited to work with Little Grub Club to spread awareness to families around the importance of healthy eating.”

The most excited person about the program is founder and entrepreneur Juleigh Giberson. “Little Grub Club isn’t just about incentives. It’s about helping families start a conversation about healthy food. By partnering with restaurants and businesses that share these values, I’m confident we can make a huge impact.”

Little Grub Club is open to exploring additional partnerships with GTA restaurants and businesses.
