FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – July 12, 2016
Second Start Pitch Finale – LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS PITCH THEIR HEARTS OUT AT CHANCE FOR $5,000
On June 27, twenty-five budding entrepreneur finalists of the Second Start Program pitched at the chance to win one of 10 X $5,000 prizes to put towards starting, growing, or buying a small business.
Launched by the Business Advisory Centre Durham (BACD) this past January, Second Start was designed to provide would-be entrepreneurs with experiential business training, skills development, mentoring and a chance to win seed capital for their business ideas. The program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development & Growth and Research Innovation and was open to residents of Durham Region, 30 years of age or older.
“I commend the BACD team on the amazing experience that this program has offered, GREAT JOB! It touched on every aspect of growing a business and in the process broke down barriers for many and now they are stronger going forward. I truly believe there are many Entrepreneurs with amazing ideas just itching to break loose but lack the business confidence & knowledge, BACD is and has been the facilitator…” – Frank Baldwin, one of 25 Finalists.
