That’s Personal, a Mumbai-based e-store selling sexual wellness products and lingerie, has been recognised as the winner of the Hot 50 Awards here for its innovative and disruptive presence in the e-commerce segment.

The award was announced on Friday as part of the Paul Writer Mumbai Brand Summit and Hot 50 Awards, presented by OneIndia.

The demand for *** products is on the rise in cities as well as small towns, revealed a recent countrywide survey of sales trends of adult products. While tier-1 cities like Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi, continue to lead with a 52% share, tier-2 cities too have caught up with the trend as a total of 33% sales on came from them. “The survey shows that the top three tier-2 cities which have contributed in the jump of sales figures are Jaipur, Surat and Lucknow. People from tier-3 towns, Kohima, Devangere (Karnataka) and Hisar, too are becoming adventurous and experimental, contributing 15% sales,” said a spokesperson of the website. The top trending items on the online shopping list of metropolises as well as smaller tows are lubricants, edible underwears, body paints, *** games and kinky handcuffs.The most popuplar are male performance products.
“It was an eye-opener of sorts to realize that those from Puri are the biggest buyers of women arousal creams, while people from Ajmer, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur prefer to buy role-playing costumes,” added the spokesperson. The `naughty nurse outfit’ emerged the most popular role-playing costume, while the women of Agartala and Imphal mostly purchased products like velvety handcuffs, blindfolds and spanking rulers.
Sexologist Dr Shirish Malde said that he is not surprised by the findings as it was a result of globalization and the vast reach of internet.

“Just last year, there was an international conference on sexology in Navi Mumbai where many experts spoke about how Indian women are emerging out of the shadows to aggressively demand orgasm from their partners. *** is no longer a duty . This, however, does lead to some anxiety of sexual performance,” said Dr Malde. However, he advised caution while buying certain products as their benefits remain unproven.

Samir Saraiya, CEO of, said: “We started two and a half years ago, and are surprised by the sales trends.” The survey findings also show that Gujarat was top buyer of adult games, while Bihar bought male performance products like delay gels, pleasure rings, and aromatic condoms the most.

Ironically , experts point out, the sale of pornography along with products like *** dolls and dildos are still illegal in India. “When we have to recommend any such product to our patients for therapy , they have to rely on touts to buy them or on foreign websites. However, since products like lubricants, edible lingerie and body oils are getting popular, forbidden products like *** dolls too may be legalized,” added Dr Malde.
